In my quest to gain industry insights, I reached out to Maxine Dorkin, People and Culture Consultant at Sand Technologies, to understand how remote work is shaping the work they do.

Maxine shed light on how SandTech’s hiring approach has evolved, stating, “Having a remote-first Talent Acquisition approach has allowed SandTech to employ a highly skilled team originating from more than 29 countries across the globe.” She further highlighted the expansive reach, mentioning countries like “Poland, India, Argentina, United States, Portugal, Paraguay, Romania, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Philippines, Tunisia, Russia, and Lithuania.”

Diving deeper into the benefits of this approach, Maxine emphasised the richness in diversity they achieved, “Our global hiring approach has granted us access to a vast Global Talent Pool, allowing us to hire professionals who bring a diverse range of perspectives.”

She elaborated on the direct benefits to the organisation: “Remote work allows the company to tap into a more diverse workforce with varied cultural backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This diversity has the benefit of more creative problem-solving and innovative ideas.”

Removing Location-Based Barriers

Historically, location has been a significant barrier to workforce diversity. Talented individuals who were unable to relocate due to family commitments, visa constraints, or personal reasons often missed out on opportunities.
